Wildflower Walk March 28, 2026 @ 10AM St. Francois State Par

Join us as we walk the Swimming Deer Trail in search of spring wildflowers and spend some time in nature.

Where:  St. Francois State Park, Swimming Deer Trail.  Parking is available at the campground restroom parking area.  We'll gather in the parking area before going to the trailhead.   GPS coordinates:    37.9551, -90.5292

A pit toilet is available in the campground area.

If necessary, Cancellations will be notified via email by 8:00 am on March 28th.

Wear sturdy hiking/walking shoes and bring water.  You may also want to bring sunscreen, hat, tick spray, camera, walking stick, rain gear and snacks.

Besa Schweitzer will lead us again this year to see the amazing display of Virginia Bluebells at St. Francois Park. 

We’ll walk along the Swimming Deer Trail looking at the bluebells and other spring ephemerals such as solomen’s seal, phlox, cutleaf toothwort, trillium, pawpaw blooms, bellwort and many more.   Then we’ll go part way down a different trail to see the hepatica and walking ferns.

Besa and Chris will be staying in the campground that weekend and invites anyone interested to join them.  Campground services are limited this time of year but the scenery can’t be beat.
