Calling all Wild Ones members and friends to make an impact in the City Nature Challenge!
April 26–29, 2019
The greater St. Louis region will be competing in the 2019 City Nature Challenge, along with more than 160 cities around the world. Which city can document the most species in 4 days? Here are two ways to participate:
- April 26–29: Get outside! Whether in a backyard, local park or favorite nature spot anywhere in the St. Louis region*, take photos or sounds of animals, plants and other life-forms using the free iNaturalist app. In addition to helping St. Louis compete in this global challenge, your observations will become data that could benefit local lands and waters.
- April 30–May 5: If you consider yourself skilled at species ID, we need you! During this window of time, help turn casual observations into research-grade data from the comfort of your own computer.
As lovers and supporters of native plants and wildlife, Wild Ones can make a big impact on the species documentation! Organisms observed should be ‘wild’.Landscape plants, trees and shrubs
that were planted before September 2018 are acceptable.
Wild Ones will be tabling at Greenscape Gardens on Saturday, April 27th, from 10 AM to 1 PM. We will have native plants to give away as well as information on iNaturalist, which is used for the City Nature Challenge.
