2019 Wild Ones Tabling Events – Uncovered

by Marypat Ehlmann
2019 Tabling Event Chair

Member volunteers were active from February through October hosting our information table for the St. Louis chapter.  We participated at a total of 16 events that engaged the public to learn more about life outdoors, in nature, to benefit pollinators and people, using native plants in home gardens.  This past year, 5 of the venues were new for us and 11 venues were returning sites.  Tabling venue sites cater to a range of audiences: those attracting seasoned native plant/gardening enthusiasts, those attracting families geared for children where we highlight games/activities, and those attracting people new to the world of native plants/gardening. The focus of the event determines how we arrange our display on the table.

In 2020 there will be a change in the way tabling events are managed.  Rather than having an individual lead all of the  tabling events, we will be going to a group/committee approach.  Tabling Events and Public Relations will be combined with Sue Leahy as chair.  Sue will be offering an information/training meeting for those joining the committee.  Please continue to support the important work of educating and networking regarding native plants by volunteering.

On behalf of all native forbes, grasses, shrubs, vines and trees as well as insects, birds, 4- and more- legged, and crawlers, we THANK YOU for volunteering in 2019. And thank you for sharing the information Wild Ones offers which adds beauty to our landscapes, richness to our lives, and allows us to continue Healing the Earth One Yard at a Time.
