Doug Tallamy is Coming! 2020 Partners for Native Landscaping Workshop

by Marsha Gebhardt
President, Wild Ones St. Louis Chapter

Registration will open on Friday, January 10th for the 2020 St. Louis Partners for Native Landscaping (PNL) Workshop. Hundreds in the St. Louis region look forward to this annual event, and this year we are in for a special treat!

Doug Tallamy will be the speaker for our Friday night event at the Missouri Botanical Garden and will keynote the all-day Saturday PNL workshop at the Maryland Heights Community Center. Dr. Tallamy will be making his first presentation in the Midwest since the February publication of his new book, Nature’s Best Hope. The new book as well as his groundbreaking book Bringing Nature Home will be available for purchase at both events.

Doug Tallamy is now a Lifetime Honorary Director of Wild Ones. He was originally named Honorary Director in 2009. Obviously, he recognizes the importance of the “grassroots” work and the impact of Wild Ones and its 50+ chapters in the US. We can expect that he will acknowledge the success and prominence of Wild Ones St. Louis.

This review of Tallamy’s new book connects it to the work that Wild Ones St. Louis and our partners are dedicated to:

This is a handbook for not only transforming your own yard, but for talking to your neighbors, the teachers in the paved schoolyard next door, and your town councilors about connecting one green haven to another to build wildlife corridors that become, as Tallamy puts it, a Homegrown National Park.” Anne Raver, award-winning columnist and author of Deep in the Green.

Registration will be open today, Friday 10th,  online at

Note: the registration link has changed.
Apologies for the confusion, we understand that this was very frustrating and will do our best to avoid in the future.

At this landing page you will find a link to a registration page for each event.  St. Louis Audubon is handling the registrations for us through Eventbrite this year.  Payments will be by credit card only.

Friday, March 6. 5:30 to 8:30 at the Missouri Botanical Garden. For just $10 you will get a reception with appetizers and a cash bar, plus a book signing and lecture by Dr. Tallamy. It’s possible that it will sell-out.

Saturday, March 7. 9:00 to 4:00 at the Maryland Heights Community Center. For $25 you will get breakfast snacks, plant and book sales, the keynote by Doug Tallamy, a hot buffet lunch, and breakout sessions for beginners and experienced native plant gardeners. New this year, registrants will receive a detailed program prior to the event, to help make decisions about which sessions to choose.

Note to Wild Ones St. Louis members – please wear your name tag and perhaps your Wild Ones shirt if you have one.  By identifying ourselves with Wild Ones St. Louis we encourage questions and conversations with folks who are newer to the native landscaping “scene”.  Our primary mission is to educate and provide support for people who want to work on Healing the Earth One Yard at a Time.

The St. Louis region is becoming a national leader in collaborations and programming which further conservation of biodiversity and thus counter climate change while providing many pleasures to our resident gardeners. Come be a part of the movement at this year’s Partners for Native Landscaping events!

  1. The registration link for the Partners, etc. conference just takes me to the ad for the event – not a registration page!

    • All, thanks for your posts that the link is not live yet. If you get the Save the Dave page rather than registration, the link is not live yet. Please try again later to register. We wanted to be sure to get the word out early today.

    • I’ve been trying on and off all day. Is there a problem with the link? I can understand wanting to give all a fair chance, but what am I missing?

  2. Same problem as above. Links to information not registration

  3. The link on this page is still not active but you can register via St. Louis Audubon’s site. https://www.eventbrite.com/o/st-louis-audubon-society-5603184645
