February 2023:
Ed Spevak, Curator of Invertebrates at the St. Louis Zoo, presented “Native Bees and Other Pollinators: Who they are, Why we need them and How to help them“.

This talk focused on the diversity of our native pollinators from bees to butterflies to beetles to birds, and also the flies, how they are keystone species in the support of ecosystems, habitats and our food, and how you can support them through rewilding yours and your communities land.

March 2023:
Abigail Aderonmu-Omun presented “Changing Weather Patterns in Missouri and how they will affect our approach to Gardening“.

Abigail s a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the International Center for Energy, Environment and Sustainability (InCEES) at Washington University in St Louis.

Historic climate data and models of future trends project an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events; these have cascading impacts on both people and the environment. In this session, we will explore the trends and patterns of changing weather in Missouri and its influence on gardening practices.
