Hello native plant enthusiasts. We are excited to announce this year’s calendar, which lists our monthly gatherings and other related events for 2017. For your convenience, the gathering schedule is listed below. However, please refer to the calendar before attending an event as it may be updated or changed.

Topic: Landscaping with Native Trees & Shrubs by our own resident expert and member Betty Struckhoff
Date and Time: Wednesday, April 5 at 6:00 p.m. or Saturday, April 8 at 9:30 a.m.
Yard Tour: At the home of avid gardeners Susan & Fred Burk. Members have benefited from all of the vegetable and wild flower seedlings Susan has brought to our meetings.
Date and Time: Wednesday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m.
Yard Tour: At the home of Dale Dufer and Jean Ponzi. Jean is Green Resource manager at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Earthways Center and host on KDHX’s, Earthworms show
Date and Time: Wednesday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday, June 10 at 9:30 a.m.
Yard Tour: At the home of sustainable vegetable and native plant gardener Besa Schweitzer – This yard has many storm water management features.
Date and Time: Wednesday, July 5 at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday, July 8 at 9:30 a.m.
Yard Tour: At the home of Sherri DeRousse. A small and colorful garden in a lovely south city neighborhood
Date and Time: Wednesday, August 2 at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday, August 5 at 9:30 a.m.
Yard Tour: At Kevin King’s rehabbed Soulard garden with Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District grant, includes water features. Jeannie Cablish present to answer questions on garden design
Date and Time: Wednesday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Tour: Overland Garden & House received a Wild Ones grant in the past. Come tour the wildflower garden, log barn, log house, and museum.
Date and Time: Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. (now confirmed)
Yard Tour: Tour of NEW native plant gardens at the Museum of Transportation by Mary Ann Fink
Admission Fee: Waived

Event: Potluck and seed exchange
A big thank you to our new Programming Committee led by Chairperson Susan Orr, with Anne Rankin Horton and Prem Barton as the other committee members or as Dawn Weber likes to call them, The Three Musketeers. Look for a future blog post with a short profile of each committee member.
