Besa Schweitzer joined Wild Ones St. Louis chapter in 2014, while she was employed as a Native Plant Specialist (2004-2017) at Shaw Nature Reserve.
Since then, she has made many far-reaching contributions to native landscaping education. Here are some of her impactful contributions.
At the national level:
- Aging with Your Garden is the most recent article contributed by Besa to the Wild Ones Journal. It is in the Spring 2025 issue.
- Besa is featured as the Member Spotlight during National’s 2025 Annual Membership Meeting on April 10. We will link to the video when it becomes available
Locally, and beyond:
- Website: Besa Grows Wild began in 2017. It includes many informative blog posts.
- Book: The Wildflower Garden Planner – An Interactive Guidebook to Native Landscaping in Missouri The first edition was published in 2021. It is available for purchase at Wild Ones St. Louis Gatherings, other tabling events and through her website.
- Webinar series: This month in our native garden Besa and knowledgeable speakers shared timely tips each month in 2024. All twelve months are available for viewing on our chapter’s YouTube channel
