February meeting minutes

Wild Ones at the February 2014 meetingEd Schmidt welcomed eighteen members and five guests to our first meeting of 2014, which took place at The Heights community center in Richmond Heights. Ed introduced the chapter Board of Directors:

Spring is Sprung!

Many thanks to those who encouraged me to be patient with my witch hazel. A mere three years after planting, I am rewarded with blossoms.

More bad news for monarchs

A recent article in the New York Times reports that the number of monarch butterflies overwintering in Mexico has again decreased dramatically. Bad weather last spring contributed to the problem, but the biggest issue is the loss of habitat and milkweed along the migration route.
