It’s MDC Tree Seedling order time – Deadline September 13th

Updated 9/13: This year’s seedling order is closed.

You may still order seedlings directly from the MDC in bundles of 10/25.

Original Post:

The 2018-2019 Wild Ones Seedling Order is here!

Members of Wild Ones are invited participate in our group seedling order, which provides the opportunity to order less than the minimum number of seedlings per species.

If you are interested in ordering some seedlings and have been thinking about joining, now is the time to follow through!

The seedlings are sold for $1 each, to cover the cost of shipping and offset the cost of tree donations our chapter makes in the spring.

Payment is collected when the seedlings are distributed in April, because the nursery is not always able to deliver what we ask for, and adjustments are sometimes made.

We are trying a new ordering process this year with an online form.  We have also included the larger tree species on the order form this year.

The last date to request seedlings through the group order form is Thursday, September 13th at 9:00 PM.

We suggest the following process:

  1. Review the MDC Seedling Catalog (downloadable by clicking the link)
  2. See our page of links for more information about each tree and shrub species.
  3. Remember the “Right plant, right place” guidelines (in a downloadable PDF) in order to have the best possible success with your seedlings. Also consider the location and “grown-up” size of your tree as it relates to the surrounding power lines with this information from Ameren.
  4. Make a list of what you would like to purchase before starting the order form
  5. Go to the order form, choose your species and submit your order
  6. You will receive a confirmation email that displays the count of each species ordered. Should you need to make any changes or have questions about using the online ordering form, contact Dawn Weber via the Contact Us page
