Looking for more information about using native plants in your landscape? The Fine Gardening Symposium, as part of Shaw Nature Reserve’s Native Plant School, will focus on planting design, plant selection, installation and maintenance methods for optimal owner, community, and wildlife success and satisfaction.
Dates and times:
Friday, October 19 at 4:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 20 at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activities
Friday evening activities include registration, social hour, a welcome by Dr. Quinn Long, and keynote from Scott Woodbury, “Whitmire Wildflower Garden turns 25!”
Saturday activities include a “Native Landscaping Past, Present and Future” presentation by Scott Woodbury, in addition to break-out sessions with topics including techniques for planting, transplanting, weed identification, weeding, mulching, watering, pruning, dead-heading, and eco-friendly turf maintenance.
Dining:
Friday night there will be a reception with light appetizers. Saturday will include a catered lunch, snacks, and beverages.
Registration:
Registration will close October 12th at 8 a.m., so there is still time for friends or colleagues to register. The cost is $70 for MOBOT/SNR members; $84 nonmembers
