By Dawn Weber

Our Chapter will be selling native plants during the Spring Wildflower Market at Shaw Nature Reserve on both Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12. We hope you will shop our booth at the sale, as the profits are our Chapter’s main source of income. Come shop with us first! 🙂

Attention Members: I am seeking volunteers to collect boxes and help on Friday and Saturday. If you volunteer, you will receive a discount off of each plant purchased from our Wild Ones booth as a thank you. Sign up hereIf you’re not yet a member, this may be just the nudge you need to join.

  1. Where do the boxes need to be collected from?

    • Hi Barbara!
We are looking for the boxes that multiple packages of strawberries come in, into the grocery stores.

Here’s a link to a photo of one:

They are made of a heavier cardboard and can hold up if they get a little wet from plants or rain.

Sams, Costco and regular grocery stores are great places to find these boxes. At the regular store, it usually requires working with the produce manager and asking them to set them aside so that you can pick them up.

Susan Burk is in charge of the box gathering – you can reach her at fred.burk@att.net or grab her # from the membership list

      • I collected many boxes for the sale. I am a fairly new Wild Ones member. What do I need to do when purchasing plants at our booth in order to receive the discount? Will the cashier have a list of all the volunteers?

        • Good question! I will be sending out some details for volunteers today.

Yes, the cashiers will have the list of volunteers so that they can give the discount to those who have helped us.
