Ed Schmidt of Wild Ones – St. Louis Chapter will be doing a presentation titled “The Importance and Pleasure of Growing Native Plants” at the Ethical Society of Saint Louis on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
There has been a lot of publicity the past year or so about efforts to save the monarch butterfly by growing milkweed. Why milkweed? Which milkweed? Has it worked? And why such a fuss about monarch butterflies? Creating habitat for monarch butterflies is only one example of the benefits of growing native plants. Come learn why you might want to replace some of that beautiful “eye candy” that you’ve planted in your garden with plants that are indigenous to Missouri. Also, you’ll learn that gardening with native plants is easy to do.
The event is open to the public and will include a Q&A session.
