Forest Park needs volunteers to plant natives – April 30

The Kennedy Woods Advisory Group and Forest Park Forever will be installing native plants in the savanna by the “poke and plop” method.  Volunteers are needed to plant the 1500 plugs and will have guidance from six crew leaders. This event is an opportunity to increase biodiversity and savanna health in Forest Park.

Guidelines are:

  • Plants, safety gear, and instructions will be provided
  • Bring sturdy, closed-toed shoes and suitable clothing that can
    get dirty
  • Learn about future opportunities to volunteer and help care for
    Forest Park and native-plant communities

What: Savanna restoration event
When: Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. (to be completed by noon)
Where: Forest Park – rain or shine by the stand of tall pines up the hill from the intersection of Rosebury Ave. and Skinker Blvd.
Who: Open to the public
Parking: Skinker Blvd. recommended, with alternative parking on Government Dr., just north of Wells Dr.
Registration:  At VolunteerSpot – no need to register an account or keep a password
