October 2020 Garden Gathering Highlights

Wild Ones Gathering October 2020
Mercy Virtual Care Center in Chesterfield
Saturday, October 3rd
43 attendees

Our October Gathering was held on the campus of Mercy Virtual Care Center in Chesterfield. Opened in 2015 on 44 acres, the LEED certified building was built to minimize damage to its natural landscape. From the beginning Simon Barker, of Native Landscape Solutions, has led the development and maintenance of the extensive native landscapes on the grounds. These include formal landscapes, prairie plantings, rain gardens and ponds.

For our Wild Ones Gathering, Simon and his team members Steve Cavin and Melinda Slagle spoke about three key and varied types of landscaping on the grounds.  Melinda is also a current member of Wild Ones St. Louis Chapter.

Although it was cloudy and threatening rain, everyone thoroughly enjoyed listening to the speakers, exploring the grounds and catching up with each other.  (Masked and socially distanced, of course.)
