Publicity and Marketing is now Outreach – Help Needed

By Sue Leahy
Board Member at Large and Outreach Coordinator

Some of you may already be aware that the new Outreach Committee will take over responsibility for tabling at various events this year. What you may not know is that over 1/4 of our new blog post/e-mail notification sign-ups find out about Wild Ones through these tabling events. That’s a significant number and it is important that we keep up our presence in the community.

We are going to try some new markets for outreach this year and already have several events booked. In addition, we will continue to have a presence at events we have attended in the past. It’s shaping up to be a busy year!   We will, of course, continue to need members to staff the tables at these events. There has been great response from many of you who volunteer and we will continue to need your help.

However, I need some people to serve on the committee. These members will help decide on tabling events, review our marketing materials, and take responsibility for set up, take down, coordinating volunteers, etc.  A few of you have already expressed interest, but the more the merrier! I would like to meet with interested parties shortly after the first of the year so please send me an e-mail at sleahy@sbcglobal.net. Early in the new year, I’ll send out a survey to schedule a time.  If you’re not sure, come to the meeting. We’ll explain the process and responsibilities. If you then feel it’s not for you, that’s OK.

Another 18% of our blog post sign-ups find out about us through word of mouth, current members and friends so you are all vital in spreading the word about Wild Ones even if you do not serve on a committee.  Keep up the good work!

  1. thanks, Sue, for all your coordinating – I’m in Seattle with my bro (our 99 year old dad died last week)…I’m going to lay low until winter is done and I get some energy, healing and transition space. Green in spring will bring energy — I’ll sign up for tabling and appreciate YOUR work for wild ones!!
